Cool and Creative Website about Golf

Written by Jack on February 19, 2008 – 5:23 pm

Check out this new website about golf for new golf players called of all things, “The Golf Virgin“.   This should be a really cool site long term and it addresses a really cool niche marketing opportunity.

The new golfer and in fact the beginning and even the intermediate golfers out there all have tons of questions.  Golf from a techniques, etiquette and equipment stand point is perhaps one of the most complex and often intimidating social activities in the world.  There are millions of golfers out there and many new folks joining the ranks everyday including countless business professionals that almost have to play golf as part of doing business.

This is a great example of carving a niche in a market that appears at first glance to be highly saturated.

Great source of martial arts gear

Written by Jack on February 15, 2008 – 8:30 pm

I like to poke around random websites from time to time like any good web marketer and I just found a pretty cool one. As you may or may not know I enjoy martial arts and have a client named Val Riazanov that we produced a DVD series for called Ballistic Striking. So I on occasion like to check out martial arts websites.

I just found one called Asian World of Martial arts and they offer great deals on a lot of martial arts products such as Sparring Gear and other cool stuff like striking targets, weapons and uniforms. I really found their pricing to be very good and their site is very easy to navigate and quickly find what you are looking for.

Training via the computer and the web

Written by Jack on February 14, 2008 – 8:35 pm

I just took a look at a website that I really liked from a company called Resource Bridge. Resource Bridge provides a variety of solutions for Web based training solutions that allow companies to train clients, employees or customers more effectively then via conventional classroom solutions.

I remember back when a company I was a sales manager for introduced a new high end product that required extensive training. Most training the managers simply did with our reps in the field. With this release though the product was announced in January and orders were to be taken by February 1st. There was no time for me to travel into my 13 different states and train every rep and the company wanted to control the training very tightly because it was such a new product and a new industry we were going after.

The solution was to fly more then 130 sales reps to Chicago and train them at one time. This was expensive in the form of over 100 hotel rooms, 100 airline tickets, rental cars, expensed dinners and reserving conference rooms for several days.

It would have probably saved my company over 100,000 dollars to have done remote training for this launch and a company like Resource Bridge to do that training. Just something to think about as you or your company does planning for training vendors, partners, clients or customers.

Yet another reason to optimize all your pages

Written by Jack on December 7, 2007 – 9:08 pm

Google site linksThe Google Blog today posted about a new feature in a post called, Twice the Sitelinks. Sitelinks are as pictured on the right links to specific sub pages that appear in search results when certain searches are made. These point to very specific sub pages on the listed site that help searchers find what they need quickly.

Up until now they have displayed perhaps 4 links and now as you can see they are displaying as many as 8. To make sure this is possible it is necessary to properly tag and optimize your individual pages. A step often missed by non SEO focused hasty webmasters.

Google has also been tweaking things so that Sitelinks will appear for many more websites, and with more descriptive names. These improvements should help visitors and again is yet another reason for good site optimization.
